Man Utd fans loving Andreas Pereira exit talk

Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has at least one admirer, and it doesn’t appear to be the supporters at the club.

The president of Brazilian league giants Santos, Jose Carlos Peres, has been talking up the prospects of signing the 24-year-old one day in the future.

Speaking with Gazeta Esportiva, he said: “I have Andreas Pereira on Whatsapp and I have been talking to him, he wins a lot at Manchester United. He will certainly wear the club shirt one day.”

And fans have been absolutely loving the idea of seeing Pereira depart Old Trafford as soon as possible, even though it’s unlikely that the Serie A side can even afford him.

Despite being born in Belgium, the 5 foot 10 attacking midfielder has opted for his father’s nationality, Brazil, where he has already picked up one senior cap.

This season, he has recorded two goals and four assists from 37 appearances, seeing his value rise to £14.4m via Transfermarkt.

The Sun reported in March that Ole Gunner Solskjaer would be willing to listen to offers for the Red Devils academy graduate at the end of the season, but it remains to be seen whether the current climate has changed things since.

Here’s how fans have been reacting to the news…

Everton: Blues should prioritise academy talent over transfer target Ibrahima Diallo

Everton summer target Ibrahima Diallo could be ready to leave France and embark on a new adventure after reports tip him to make an exit.

Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly been ‘following him closely’ and the Blues could get their hands on their target this summer, however they face competition from Leicester City.

According to Le Télégramme (via Sport Witness), both Premier League sides are interested in acquiring the services of Diallo and the French outlet believes ‘the trend leans towards an exit’.

Diallo joined French side Stade Brest from Monaco last summer and according to reports, his former club will bag 20% of any future sale. As a result, Brest are looking for a minimum of €20 million (£17.8m) for the sale of the Frenchman.

Leicester have reportedly already made a bid of €16m (£14.2m) for the 21-year-old but the club knocked it back.

The midfielder has 22 appearances across all competitions this season for Brest, but has only managed to contribute one assist. In his entire senior career, the France U20 international has failed to score any goals (via Transfermarkt).

Although Everton desperately need to recruit this summer, they cannot afford to throw money at players who aren’t guaranteed to aid Ancelotti in his quest to transform the team. A 21-year-old midfielder who has never played in the Premier League before with just two career assists seems like someone the Blues should try to avoid.

Everton’s academy system has delivered plenty of promising young talent over the years, including Wayne Rooney who of course went on to dominate for both club and country. Tom Davies for example has done well to graduate and break into the senior squad, but he is in need of guidance and some practise in contributing to goals.

Other young rising stars like Anthony Gordon are also eager to get their chance in the senior team and it would seem like a slap in the face to pay good money for a player of seemingly the same calibre.

£17.8million is a decent amount of money for a club like Everton and they shouldn’t throw it around aimlessly. The club needs to prioritise nurturing its own up-and-coming talent rather than bringing in other youngsters with below average stats.

Leeds fans react to Phil Hay as he relays key EFL news

Leeds United fans have flocked to Phil Hay’s tweet this week after he relayed some vital news from the English Football League.

He claimed that Marcelo Bielsa’s squad have been given permission to resume full-contact training this week ahead of the Championship’s return to action later this month.

And it has sent the Whites faithful into overdrive on social media.

Clearly, plenty at Elland Road are delighted as it means they are ever so much closer to witnessing their side compete for promotion again – albeit from home.

Leeds are sat top of the Championship standings with a seven-point cushion to the dreaded playoff positions, meaning they are primed to end a 16-year absence from the Premier League.

They have nine games to get through with only West Brom their real challengers for the title.

Some fans at the club have joked about Bielsa’s infamous ‘murderball’ sessions as this update effectively allows the Argentine to bring back that exercise, which is basically just a normal 11 vs 11 match during training, but the players can’t stop running – and it only ends on Bielsa’s command.

There were even a few members of the United fanbase who were worried about Gaetano Berardi, just incase he took out one of their own players ahead of their long-awaited return to action.

Tottenham Hotspur: Dele Alli and Eric Dier face likely suspensions, prompting fan reactions

Tottenham are still waiting to find out if Dele Alli and Eric Dier will be banned for the resumption of the Premier League season after being charged by the FA prior to football’s suspension.

According to The Sun (as relayed by @Daily_Hotspur), Alli faces a potential three-match-ban for misconduct after mocking an Asian man on Snapchat. The disciplinary panel is yet to rule on his case, despite the fact that he was charged three months ago.

Meanwhile, Dier was charged with improper and threatening conduct, having jumped into the crowd to confront a fan during the team’s FA Cup defeat to Norwich City. He was hit with a charge back in April and could also face a suspension if he is found guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.

The Sun’s senior reporter Duncan Wright revealed that the panel is set to convene over a video conference due to the unprecedented circumstances. If the players are adjudged to have broken the rules, they will miss several games when football resumes later this month.

However, this may give Jose Mourinho the opportunity to try out other members of the squad instead. One fan certainly seems to think so, as he tweeted that it “will be doing us a favour” in response to the latest update on Alli and Dier. Another disagreed, incredulously commenting “seriously” when the news broke, given the fact it has taken so long.

TT Verdict: Jack Grealish gains Manchester City interest

Jack Grealish has emerged as a potential summer transfer target for Manchester City, who are reported to have followed rivals Manchester United with interest.

Whilst Aston Villa are continuing to struggle in the Premier League, sitting 19th as things stand, club captain Grealish is still gaining interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old versatile midfielder has had a good season in the colours of Claret and Blue, contributing with seven goals and six assists.

Such has been his good form and his impressions in what has been his fourth spell in the Premier League, that both City and United have been labelled with interest.

The latter have been credited with a liking of Grealish for sometime now leading to dozens of reports over a potential summer bid, whilst the Citizens are now reportedly keen to make a move for the Birmingham born footballer.

Villa will undoubtedly miss the impact of Grealish if he departs the club this summer, whether that be in the Premier League or the Championship, depending on how this season pans out, but the young midfielder will look at the reported interest with a hope of furthering his career.

So, who would Grealish suit more if both City and United are interested? Well, Transfer Tavern’s Georgia Goulding believes that Pep Guardiola’s squad is already full of midfield options, whilst also claiming that the former England under-21 international could become a regular at Old Trafford.

“There’s simply no room for Grealish at Man City, who are already well-stacked in their midfield. United would be a smart move for him, particularly if Paul Pogba is to leave this summer. The 24-year-old will add some extra flair to the middle of the park for the Reds, who have struggled with midfield participation aside from Scott McTominay and Bruno Fernandes. With the numbers Grealish has tallied this season, it would be surprising if he didn’t become a regular starter under Solskjaer.”

Touching on Goulding’s comments and the interest from City, who will lose Leroy Sane this summer, Transfer Tavern’s Adam Clancy seemed to agree, issuing a warning to the goal scoring midfielder that he would become just a ‘squad player’ with Guardiola’s side.

“Whilst Jack Grealish is a talent and arguably too good for Aston Villa, I think Manchester City is a step too far. As he predominantly plays as a left-sided attacker, I do not think Pep Guardiola would play him over Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva or Riyad Mahrez. If Grealish has an ambition to cement his place in the England squad for Euro 2021, he arguably needs to be playing regularly. He has sometimes played a CAM too, but Kevin De Bruyne is arguably the best player in the world in this position, and whilst David Silva is leaving, Phil Foden will be looking to take over from him. He would only be a squad player at best at City, and for that reason I would say no.”

So, a tricky choice awaits Grealish if those reports of interest from Manchester are to come true but a final decision on where his future lies from here on out could also take into account his England international future.

Having previously played at youth level for the Republic of Ireland, Grealish has also featured for England at under-21 level and calls have been made for him to be handed a chance at senior level.

England boss Gareth Southgate has been reluctant to select the Villa man thus far, but a move to either City or United could force his hand in the future, something Transfer Tavern’s Jonathan Radcliffe has discussed.

“Jack Grealish is certainly a talented player, and is one of the few reasons why Aston Villa aren’t already consigned to an immediate return to the Championship – his seven goals and six assists in the Premier League for the Villans leads the way in both departments – but I think it is far too soon to be talking about him becoming a regular England starter. Firstly, there is plenty of competition in his position with the likes of Mason Mount and James Maddison coming through, whilst Dele Alli has already cemented his place as an important player for Gareth Southgate. More importantly though, I find it hard to argue that any player playing for a relegation candidate can play for the Three Lions. England are now in a position where they can challenge for each and every international tournament – to do that, you need players who have performed at the highest level in pressure situations – Grealish has no such experience. If he completes a big transfer to say Manchester United or Liverpool and continues to perform, then we can talk. Right now, though, he shouldn’t even be in the conversation.”

It certainly will be an interesting summer for Grealish and it could very well define his future both at club level and on the international scene.

Whilst both City and United will be tempting to the midfielder, his focus will firmly be on helping Villa remain in England’s top flight, but as for any young player performing well at a smaller club, interest will simply not go away.

Newcastle United: Allan Saint-Maximin comments on Steve Bruce may point to him staying – Opinion

The latest comments made by Allan Saint-Maximin on Steve Bruce may point to him staying at Newcastle United beyond the end of the 2019/20 season.

Speaking on the BBC’s Football Focus show (via The Chronicle), the 23-year old was full of praise for his manager, claiming that Bruce believes in him and that he would ‘do everything’ for the coach because of the positive relationship that he has with him.

Indeed, Saint-Maximin has been enjoying a relatively impressive 2019/20 season so far, scoring three goals and providing four assists in 23 games in the Premier League, while also creating eight big chances and averaging 4.6 successful dribbles and 1.3 key passes per match in the top flight, according to Sofascore.

His displays have attracted interest from the likes of French champions Paris Saint Germain in recent weeks and, being a Frenchman himself, there may have been concerns that he would move to PSG -especially given the fact that they have qualified for the Champions League once again and are still in the competition this season, as they are due to face Italian side Atalanta in the quarter finals.

However, Saint-Maximin’s recent remarks on Bruce may suggest that he is here to stay at St. James’ Park at least for now.

The winger may have the added incentive of the proposed takeover of the Tyneside club, as they may become very wealthy if the Premier League approves of the £300m deal between Mike Ashley and Amanda Staveley’s Saudi Arabian-led group.

Nevertheless, Saint-Maximin seems to be focused on the Magpies for now as they aim for a strong finish to the current term.

Coventry: Kayden Jackson discusses Sky Blues transfer link

Coventry City transfer target Kayden Jackson has touched on interest shown in him by the Sky Blues and his current contract situation at Ipswich Town.

Coventry boss Mark Robins has followed up promotion to the Championship with a number of significant signings this summer.

Gustavo Hamer and Julien Dacosta were two of the first names through the door at the club, whilst Marcel Hilssner has also been joined by former Aston Villa youngster Callum O’Hare and Ryan Giles.

With preparations for the 2020/21 season well underway, Robins is also seemingly keen to bolster his attacking options and a link to Ipswich striker Jackson has developed in recent weeks.

Jackson, who signed for Ipswich in 2018 from Accrington Stanley, is entering the final year of his deal at Portman Road. Talks are said to have been ongoing between the £720,000-valued striker and his current club over an option to extend but it is claimed that the Suffolk outfit’s latest offer has been rejected.

That recent stall in talks has prompted the likes of Coventry to show interest in the striker, who netted an impressive 11 goals in 32 games last season.

Jackson has now discussed his immediate future, telling East Anglian Daily Times: “Whatever is going on is separate to anything, I don’t really deal too much on that side. It’s all down to the agent.

“At the end of the day I’m an Ipswich player and I’ve got to contract here potentially for another two years, so for me it’s all about concentrating on the football and the season ahead.

“Last season was a massive disappointment for all of us. I’m just looking to improve on what I did and hopefully we can get the end result that we wanted last season.”

Robins has done excellent business in the transfer window so far this season but one area where he hasn’t improved is at centre forward, and it may be that Jackson is the perfect summer arrival.

The 11-goal League One striker is seemingly stalling on a new deal with Ipswich and a move to Coventry does not seem out of the question. Given his scoring return last season, the Sky Blues could probably do a lot worse than get him in ahead of their Championship campaign.

Liverpool: Predicted XI to round off Reds’ illustrious Premier League season

Liverpool have just one match remaining of their runaway season which saw them lift the Premier League trophy for the first time.

After their thrilling 5-3 win over Chelsea on Wednesday, the Reds turn their attention to one final fixture before the campaign comes to a close. Newcastle will welcome the champions to St James’ Park in what could be a rather relaxed affair.

The Magpies are in no danger of relegation and, with Liverpool already wrapping up the title, it could be a pressure-free afternoon for both sides.

Transfer Tavern has predicted how Jurgen Klopp might line up to face Steve Bruce’s side on the road later today…

With nothing left to fight for and no home game to dominate, Klopp may choose to rest some of his key players against the Toon. Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah could be given some well-earned time off, with Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino coming in to replace them. Sadio Mane might keep his place on the left to ensure that there is still a world-class attacking option to keep Newcastle occupied.

From the Chelsea match, Curtis Jones could earn a start in place of Georginio Wijnaldum. Naby Keita deserves to keep his spot and, given his injury-hammered season, he will not want to spend the last game on the bench. His goal against the Blues will also be fresh in Klopp’s mind, with hope that he can recreate something similar this afternoon.

Although Klopp could essentially field a full team of youngsters, he is too proud to see out the season on a bad note. It seems likely that his usual goalkeeper and back four selection will remain the same, in the hope of a parting clean sheet in 2019/20.

A victory against the Magpies will see the Reds round off their winning season with 99 points, agonisingly short of the three-figure mark.

Aston Villa: Fans react to potential bid for Norwich City duo

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a claim by The Telegraph’s Matt Law on a potential deal for Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell or Emi Buendia.

Dean Smith’s side managed to keep their top-flight status alive with a good end to the Premier League season, beating Arsenal and drawing with West Ham United.

Having beaten off the drop to the Championship, Villa saw the likes of Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich drop down to England’s second tier.

Norwich, who would be expected to mount a promotion challenge next year, will seemingly be expecting a number of players to leave the club and Law has reported via Birmingham LIVE that Villa are keen on one of either Cantwell or Buendia.

Cantwell, valued at £18m by Transfermarkt, scored six goals and assisted twice in the Premier League last term, whilst Buendia scored once and assisted seven times.

Reacting to the transfer claim which was shared by Twitter account @villareport, Villa fans gave their opinion on the former Premier League duo. Whilst quite a few like the idea of Buendia, it seems that Cantwell would not be a popular addition which seems a little harsh given his impressive stats in his first top flight campaign.

Here is what some had to say…

Do you think either Cantwell or Buendia would be a good signing? Let us know in the comments section below…

West Ham make Burnley’s James Tarkowski their priority target

Right after confirmation that Grady Diangana had left West Ham to join newly-promoted West Brom on Friday evening, news emerged that the Hammers have set their sights on James Tarkowski.

The Telegraph have claimed that David Moyes’ side have already made a bid worth around £20m for the Burnley centre-back as they prepare to spend the money that came from Diangana’s exit.

The report adds that Tarkowski is a “priority target” for Moyes, and that an opening offer for the 27-year-old has been turned down.

The Greatest Bargains in Premier League history – How much did they cost?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

The Burnley powerhouse – who earns around £50k-per-week at Turf Moor – has established himself as a top central defender in the Premier League, earning a couple of caps for England along the way.

Danny Murphy once hailed him as a “super player” after an impressive performance in a victory over Everton, whilst he was a rock at the back last season, playing in every single top-flight game.

Tarkowski was crucial as the Clarets finished in the top-half of the table, even coming up with the assist for Burnley’s goal in their 1-1 draw against champions Liverpool.

The 6 foot 1 ace would bring plenty of Premier League experience to West Ham’s back-line, and would surely improve a defence that conceded a disappointing 62 goals – only the four teams that finished below them let in more.

With the new season getting underway next week, Moyes will be keen to get a deal done as soon as possible.
